We compared the cell (which is where life begins) to a city, in order to better understand the function of it parts, or organelles.

Cell Membrane (if plant, Cell Wall): Border Security/Customs and Immigration
Cytoplasm: Roads
Ribosomes : Lumbar Yard
Mitochondria: Power Plant
Endoplasmic Reticulum: Delivery Van
Golgi Bodies: Post Office
Vacuoles: Warehouse
Lysosomes: Sanitation
Chloroplast (Plant Only): Solar Panels

By just looking at this image and looking at the functions of each organelle of the cell it helped me understand how every part of the cell is all connected and all work together.

I like how a cell is being compared to a city because it gives me a better understanding of each organelle function. When I think of the nucleus, now I automatically think of a government and it gives me a clear idea of what the nucleus does and what the nucleus controls. I also think it is helpful because it also ties into our lesson about communities and population. So, now I have a better understanding of 2 things.

I like how you included a picture of a cell with the organelles we discussed in class and now knowing the organelle function and how I can remember it city part and the cell is the city. I can almost imagine the organelles being replaced with roads or a power pant which helps me understand the cell and the organelles a little more.
